Overview
The Park and Recreation department continues to build a team that are dedicated to promoting recreations and aquatics programs. The Program Coordinator – Communications & Marketing position will collect, organize, design, and create materials for their Park & Recreation activities.

Essential Functions
Assist with budgeting and executing publicity and marketing strategies for recreation and aquatics programs, including creating compelling copy and art direction for both digital and print promotional materials.
Ensure materials and publications are developed in accordance with City brand and style guidelines.
Provide support to recreation and aquatics program teams with designing forms, program evaluations, surveys, etc., and in capturing content (photo, video, etc.) for use in creating social media, website content, and other digital and print promotional/marketing materials.
Assist with managing website content and social media accounts, including creating and planning content, writing copy, engaging with audience, replying to messages, etc.
Utilize registration and revenue data to inform marketing decisions; track and analyze content/campaign metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), sharing feedback with appropriate teams.
Monitor and work with internal teams to understand social media conversations and engaging to meaningfully connect with the community.
Assist with integrating equity, social justice and inclusion practices in department outreach, publicity, and communications to ensure equal access and availability of Parks and Recreation services.
Participate in on-site events and community outreach efforts, including job fairs and other local planning events, to assist with set-up and staging; distribution of marketing materials; and engaging participants in meaningful dialog promoting Parks and Recreation programming.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of communications strategies and tools, including basic design concepts, professional website and social media etiquette, developing print and digital content, web design, and publishing.
Knowledge of marketing and social media key performance indicators and metrics.
Skill in operating various computer software and databases, including Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn job-specific applications, equipment, website technology and other digital communication tools.
Skill in communicating, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.
Skill in managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks with shifting priorities and timeline demands.
Skill in developing written and digital materials using professional writing and graphic design tools.
Skill with photography and videography.
Ability to copyedit and proofread copy for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style.
Ability to write from the City’s perspective and for multiple audiences.
Ability to learn departmental and City of Missoula practices and procedures, including communication standards.
Proven ability to participate in a team-oriented environment, contributing as lead and collaborator on a variety of projects and teams.
Qualifications and Additional Application Materials
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years’ experience with recreation management, marketing, communications, or another relevant field.
Must have a valid Montana driver’s license with a verified acceptable driving record, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
